The i generation is the current one. All three models are sold in every market we source from, and none of them has been superseded.

How the SMARTCORE system works

TEREA sticks carry a stainless-steel heating element inside the stick, and the device heats it by induction. The manufacturer's wording is that the system "heats tobacco from inside the stick" and "works without a heating blade". That is why an ILUMA cannot heat a HEETS stick, and why there is no blade to clean.

Frequently asked questions

Which IQOS ILUMA models are in this range?

Three: IQOS ILUMA i PRIME, IQOS ILUMA i, IQOS ILUMA i ONE. Two are two-piece devices with a separate holder and pocket charger; one is an all-in-one.

What is the difference between a two-piece device and an all-in-one?

A two-piece has a holder you smoke from and a pocket charger that recharges it, so you get several sessions before the charger itself needs power. An all-in-one is a single unit — smaller to carry, but when it is flat it is flat.

Do all of these take the same TEREA sticks?

Yes. Every device in the IQOS ILUMA family heats TEREA sticks, from any of our origins. What differs between models is battery, controls and size, not which sticks fit.

Can any of them use HEETS?

No. The manufacturer states that IQOS ILUMA "is used exclusively with TEREA tobacco sticks" and "cannot be used with HEETS tobacco sticks". A HEETS stick has no metal element inside it, so induction has nothing to heat.

Do these devices need cleaning?

Not the heating path. There is no blade going into the tobacco, so the manufacturer states the device "does not require cleaning". The charging port still needs an occasional wipe.

Which colours can I get?

That depends on which market's stock we are holding, because the named colourways differ between them. Ask us what is here before you order, and we will tell you what is actually on the shelf rather than what the range theoretically contains.

Is there a newer generation coming?

Nothing beyond the i range is announced on any manufacturer site as of August 2026. There have been limited-edition colourways of the i PRIME, but a limited edition is a finish, not a new device.
